Modern Montessori International (“MMI”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information.
1. Personal Data We Collect
We may collect personal data directly from you or your authorised representatives when you:
- Contact us with enquiries, requests, or feedback;
- Complete our forms, including enquiry, registration, or enrolment forms;
- Participate in our programmes, events, or promotional activities;
- Register for or use our services;
- Visit our website or interact with us via phone, email, social media, or in person;
- Subscribe to updates or provide your contact details for communication.
- Are recorded by CCTV or photographed during visits or events at our premises.
This may include identification details (where required by law or necessary for enrolment processing), medical information, vaccination and health records, emergency contact details, and billing information.
We may also collect personal data from third parties where appropriate, such as authorised representatives or individuals providing information on your behalf.
If you provide personal data relating to a third party (for example, your child or emergency contact), you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian, or have obtained the necessary consent from the individual, to share their information with us for the purposes set out in this Policy.
For any personal data provided regarding a child under the age of 13, we require and assume that the individual providing such data is the parent or legal guardian with the authority to give consent on the child’s behalf. In the event of a medical emergency where consent cannot be obtained in a timely manner, we may collect and use personal data as necessary to respond to the situation in the best interest of the child.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the personal data collected for the following purposes:
- To respond to enquiries and arrange centre visits;
- To process enrolment applications and provide our educational services;
- To communicate with you regarding programmes, events, promotions, and updates (where consent is provided);
- To administer marketing and promotional activities;
- To improve our services through feedback, research, and analysis;
- To manage our administrative and operational functions;
- To ensure the safety and security of our premises;
- To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory requirements.
- To manage health and safety requirements, including medical/immunization records and allergy information as required by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA)
- To track and report on a child’s developmental and academic progress (e.g., student portfolios);
- To contact parents/guardians in the event of medical emergencies.
We may also use your personal data for purposes reasonably related to the above.
We distinguish between internal photography (used for student portfolios or shared with parents via internal school apps) and external photography used for public marketing. Separate consent will be sought for the use of a child’s image in public promotional materials.
Access to CCTV footage is strictly controlled and granted only for clarifying serious incidents. In accordance with ECDA requirements, any footage shared with parents will be subject to the masking of other individuals to protect their privacy.
To process applications for government subsidies, grants, and financial assistance schemes (including but not limited to ECDA and MSF subsidies), which may involve the collection and disclosure of household income and parent/guardian employment details to relevant regulatory bodies;
The purposes listed above may continue to apply for a reasonable period even after our relationship with you has ended, where necessary for administrative, legal, regulatory, or operational purposes.
3. Disclosure and Transfer of Personal Data
We do not sell your personal data. Your information may be shared with:
- Internal admissions, administrative, and academic teams;
- Service providers assisting with operations (e.g., CRM, marketing tools, school management systems);
- Regulatory authorities (such as ECDA) where required by law.
Where personal data is transferred to service providers outside of Singapore (e.g., cloud storage or digital marketing platforms), we ensure that the standard of protection afforded to the personal data so transferred is comparable to the protection under the PDPA.
4. Security, Storage, and Breach Notification
We take reasonable steps to protect personal data against unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, or similar risks. Our measures include:
- Restricting access to authorised staff only;
- Staff training on data protection;
- Secure digital systems and locked physical storage.
We apply enhanced security measures for sensitive personal data, including financial documents and income statements provided for government subsidy applications. Such data is stored in encrypted digital environments or secure physical storage with access restricted strictly to authorized administrative personnel on a ‘need-to-know’ basis.
In the event of a notifiable data breach, MMI has established procedures to assess the situation and notify the affected individuals and the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) as required by law.
5. Retention and Accuracy of Personal Data
Personal data will be retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy or as required by law.
By providing us with personal data, you represent and warrant that all such data is accurate, complete, and true. We rely on you to provide accurate and complete information and to notify us of any changes to your personal data to ensure our records remains up to date.
6. Access, Correction, & Withdrawal of Consent
You may request access to, correction of, or withdrawal of consent for your personal data by contacting our Data Protection Officer.
For Correction Requests: Where a correction is made, we will send the corrected personal data to every other organization to which the personal data was disclosed by us within a year before the date the correction was made, unless that other organization does not need the corrected personal data for any legal or business purpose.
For Withdrawal of Consent: You may withdraw consent for marketing at any time by clicking ‘Unsubscribe’ in our emails or by contacting us directly. Please note that withdrawing marketing consent does not affect our ability to contact you regarding existing enquiries, enrolments, or emergency matters. However, depending on the extent of your withdrawal of consent, we may not be able to continue our relationship with you or provide our services.
Fees and Timelines: We generally do not charge for access requests. However, we reserve the right to charge a reasonable fee for complex or repetitive requests to cover administrative costs. We will respond to access and correction requests as soon as reasonably possible, and generally within thirty (30) business days of receiving the request.
7. Cookies & Website Tracking
Our website may use cookies or tracking tools to improve user experience and analyze traffic. These tools do not collect sensitive personal information.
8. Changes to This Policy
MMI reserves the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. The latest version will always be made available upon request or published on our website.
